Camp Mary

Located about 105 kilometers (90 minutes) north of Port-au-Prince, in the Artibonite department of Haiti, the community of Camp Mary sits along National Road #1 between St. Marc and Montrouis. The community has an estimated population of 7,000 people. The people living in Camp Mary are very hospitable and welcoming. The community has many needs including access to safe water, agriculture, and health. Fruits and vegetables are grown locally and economics revolve a great deal around the agricultural products produced in the area. While 80% of the Christian community attends weekly church service, Voodoo continues to have a prominent influence in the community at large. The Christian church would highly benefit from a strong discipleship program for both the children and adults. In late 2014, a business start-up training course was launched in the community. Thirty entrepreneurs were selected to go through thirty days of training. After completing the course, each student was equipped to launch a new business using techniques they learned.
